West Ham fans will bid a final home farewell to Aaron Cresswell as he plays his final match for the club against Nottingham Forest tomorrow afternoon.

Aaron Cresswell has been at West Ham United for 11 years. In that time, he has won Hammer of the Year, scored winners against Newcastle and Chelsea, a free-kick against Manchester United, and won the Conference League.

The former Ipswich man deserves a huge send-off from all the fans, a lot like Mark Noble got three years ago. While he hasn’t been here pretty much all his life like Noble was, he is a player who’s very important to a lot of our fans.

For fans like me, a 23-year-old, and everyone else around that age, pretty much everything we can remember about supporting this football club, Aaron Cresswell has been a West Ham United player. So really, while he hasn’t been here as long, Cresswell leaving will bring a similar level of emotion as Noble did.

While it’s very sad to see a player many think of as a modern club legend and one of our best full-backs of all time go. It is definitely the right time, because the club really needs a fresh start if we want to get back to chasing the European places anytime soon.

The squad is too old and has been the oldest in the League for some time now, and it’s just not sustainable for a long period. So, while the decision to lose players like Cresswell, Fabianski, and Coufal would’ve been tough, ultimately it was the right decision from the club so Potter can do what he wants to do with the squad.

Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal will 100% start the match, Fabianski could start and be substituted with Cress and Coufal for the round of applause. There is not a chance Danny Ings starts, but it would be a nice touch to put him on the bench and bring him on for the fans to thank him. While he hasn’t had the best of times, he was part of the Conference League-winning side, so for that, he will always be remembered.

It’s a day of sentiment for the Hammers with nothing to play for, however, it’s the opposite for Nottingham Forest, who still have a Champions League place to fight for. It is very likely that we lose tomorrow afternoon but there won’t be many Hammers fans that are that bothered after both Manchester United and Spurs lost on Friday night.

Let’s hope we can give Cresswell, along with Fabianski, Coufal, and Ings, the send-off they deserve against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. It will be an emotional day for a lot of people in the stadium, so let’s hope we can get the London Stadium rocking for the first and last time in 24/25.
