David Sullivan takes transfer into his own hands in surprise move.
After taking more of a back seat last Summer due to Tim Steidten, David Sullivan is expected to be more involved in transfers once again this transfer window.
Graham Potter has inherited a fractured, old squad full of players who don’t want to be at the club. It’s vital that he and the board work together in order to recruit wisely.
As always, the club are keeping a close eye on the free transfer market and have identified CJ Egan-Riley as a top defensive target.
The Burnley defender has been part of one of, if not, the best defences in Championship history. While Burnley have been desperate to tie him down to a new deal, this is highly unlikely to happen.
Unfortunately, Egan-Riley is said to be extremely close to joining Strasbourg, but Sullivan is doing everything he can to try and change this. According to reports, the businessman has contacted both the player and his mother, who is his agent, in an attempt to convince him to stay in England.
Sullivan isn’t known to be the most charming of men, but the desire to acquire Potter’s targets has to be respected. Hopefully, David can say the right things to make the deal happen.
