West Ham are willing to sell Mohammed Kudus to raise funds for this summer, but they may not get the sort of money they are hoping for.
The Hammers are set for a huge reshuffle this summer, but we are also said to be strapped for cash. So, they will need to sell to spend the kind of money needed.
Mohammed Kudus is probably one of the first names on the transfer list because of his value. Obviously, we’d rather sell players like Guido Rodriguez and Konstantinos Mavropanos, but we’re not going to get transfer window-changing money for them.
This time last year, West Ham fans were concerned about losing Kudus this summer because he has an £85m release clause in his contract this window.
However, after an incredible first season with 14 goals and 9 assists, he has really dropped off in his second season in claret and blue.
The Ghanaian managed just 4 goals and 4 assists in 34 Premier League games this time out which has really lessened the chances of teams playing his release clause.
The £85m release clause is for Premier League clubs, for European clubs it’s £80m and for Saudi Arabian clubs it’s reportedly £125.
It is very unlikely that any of those clauses are met, if he was to stay in the Premier League we could probably get around £60m with Arsenal said to be interested.
Saudi side Al-Nassr also hold an interest in the Ghana attacker, so lets hope they can make a silly bid like they did for Brighton’s Karou Mitoma, a reported offer of over £100m for the Japanese winger was for some reason rejected by the seagulls.
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown agrees, he said:  “West Ham will listen to offers for Kudus. He hasn’t put in the performances expected of him this summer and Potter would be prepared to let him go because he’s not making an impact.
“He’s got this £80m release clause, but that doesn’t matter if nobody will pay it. There are clubs keeping an eye on his situation, but there are doubts about what he might cost.
“Kudus has had a very disappointing season, there’s no doubt about that, and he hasn’t shown these clubs why they should spend big money on him.
“But from a West Ham point of view, they would like to make money from his sale. They want to improve their squad and back the
manager, so selling Kudus would help with that.”
