Graham Potter is set to oversee a summer of significant change in east London as he shapes the team and club to fit his vision.

Although there can be no denying that this season has been a disaster from the 1st whistle, with hammerings, injuries, car crashes, failed bids, a manager sacking and now our London rivals Spurs lifting a trophy – there is light appearing on the horizon.

There are not many left who are connected with the club that have little-to-no enthusiasm at present, as the long season takes its toll even on the most optimistic of supporters, however recent events point towards a new era fast looming.

West Ham have confirmed that Aaron Cresswell, Lucasz Fabianski, Kurt Zouma, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings are departing east London this summer, with many others expected too, with Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez sales key to bankrolling a squad overhaul.

This is further compounded with the noises that Tomas Soucek is also available for sale, with it understood that only Jarrod Bowen, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and key Academy graduates not available.

Although this is rather daunting and unnerving for many, the fact that Potter is happy to rubber-stamp these exits suggests a high level of confidence in being able to strengthen is clearly at play.

Potter, yes still needing to win over many fans after a poor start to life results wise, is no mug. In fact, it’s fair to say he’s highly intelligent with a vast amount of experience within the game.

West Ham fans have been crying out for a modern, younger, faster and exciting squad for a long time, with our ageing side showing this season that we are being left behind. So the signs, although nerve inducing, are positive.

Graham Potter is set to lead a revolution, with our recent Academy successes key to driving that. Providing West Ham with a core to the side that has been missing for some time.

Night is darkest before the dawn. Which could well now be the case in east London.
