As the disastrous 24/25 comes to a close, it’s time to look ahead to what is hopefully a better 25/26 campaign.

Since winning the Conference League in June 2023, there hasn’t really been much to shout about at West Ham. A solid 9th place finish was followed up with a shocking 16th place finish this season.

Let’s hope we can at least get ourselves back up to those mid-table positions next season, as Graham Potter has a huge rebuild on his hands this transfer window.

When Potter came in, his words immediately took to West Ham fans. The way he spoke about the size of the club, the academy, the potential of the club and his modern ideas for the team, they all got us excited for the future.

It hasn’t really worked out like that at all, however. Five months later, some fans are even struggling to convince themselves he’s any better than Julen Lopetegui. In fact statistically, he actually isn’t; the Spaniard has a better PPG than Potter at West Ham this season.

However, while it hasn’t worked out that well as of yet, it’s very cleat that Potter does have a long-term plan for the club that could well be sustainable.

The 50-year-old wants to mould the squad into his own by bringing in younger, hungrier, and more athletic players. So far in the transfer window, we’ve been linked with players will all of those characteristics. Mostly players from Belgian and Dutch leagues.

While it might sound silly to some to say Potter wants to copy what he did at Brighton, that is pretty much exactly what the club needs, in my opinion. Our squad is too old, and we’ve seen proof of that on the pitch this season. Potter can’t implement his style with a lot of the players we have at the moment.

If we can get this summer window right, which is always easier said than done. I think we can completely turn our fortunes around; however, with West Ham, you never really know.
