West Ham have once again been linked with a move for Tammy Abraham.
Hearing the same names get repeated every Summer despite minimal interest is getting really repetitive.
While there may be some truth to the rumours, West Ham being linked with Tammy Abraham ahead of the Summer transfer window was certainly on many people’s bingo card.
Former Hammers scout Mick Brown has had a lot to say over the past couple of windows, and he’s now claimed that Abraham is a target once again.
“He’s not the perfect article in terms of his control of the ball, but he’s a pain in the neck for defenders,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s prepared to run into the channels, get in behind, hold the ball up, win flick-ons, and in general be a nuisance to the opposition.”
“Sometimes he might not the the tidiest player, but he’s effective, and that’s what West Ham want.”
“I don’t think playing in Italy has changed much for him technically, but he’s now got that experience playing regularly at a high level.”
“There are a few Premier League clubs prepared to give him another chance in England. West Ham have been watching him over there so they know what he’ll bring to the table.”
How “effective” 4 league goals in 2 seasons is is certainly up for debate, but there certainly are strengths to the forward’s game.
“At West Ham, he’s the type of forward they want because Fullkrug has had his issues and Evan Ferguson won’t stay because he hasn’t made an impact,” he continued.
“So Abraham is in that same sort of mould and he’s one they’ve been looking at.”
If he is truly someone the club have been considering then there needs to be serious words about the recruitment. His goal record in recent years is abysmal, and his injury record is even worse; he’s someone the Irons should steer well clear of.
