West Ham are getting closer to confirming who the new first team goalkeeper coach/head of goalkeeping will be, it’s been reported by ExWHUEmployee.
As was exclusively revealed by the club insider previously, Graham Potter decided to release long-term coach Xavi, with the Hammers boss wanting to freshen up the position to align with his vision for the team.
Ben Roberts of Chelsea was understood to be a likely candidate, however it’s felt it’s somewhat difficult to get him out of his current contract with the west London club.
It’s now been advised by Ex that Jack Stern, who worked with Potter at Brighton previously is now a name firmly in the frame, with the 36 year old an attractive option for the club.
It’s also been disclosed by Ex that former Hammer and son of Alvin Martin, David Martin is under consideration. However this seems the less likely option at this stage. There are also a couple of unnamed targets in the frame too.
Once a new Head of Goalkeeping is appointed one of their first tasks could be to help identify a new goalkeeper signing.
We have reported that we have held talks with Chelsea over potential moves for a number of their players this could also include Robert Sanchez (who Potter brought to Chelsea from Brighton) and Đorđe Petrović the Serbian keeper who is also at Chelsea.
Further substance is given to this story by the fact that it has been reported that The Blues are in the mix to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan.
