West Ham nearly missed out on big Summer signing to Premier League club.

For the most part, last Summer was one to forget. The large majority of signings haven’t really worked out for West Ham, and both the manager and head of recruitment who oversaw it are no longer at the club.

However, the jury is still out on a couple of the players, namely Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Frenchman has shown signs of brilliance, yet he’s been all too inconsistent, has struggled to find full match fitness, and has a questionable attitude.

Either way, his loan has now been made permanent thanks to West Ham’s survival.

However, the Hammers almost missed out on him to fellow Premier League side Newcastle last Summer, it’s been reported.

Instead of chasing Marc Guehi, they instead wanted Todibo at one point until they learned of his bad attitude. The feeling inside the club at the minute is that they dodged a bullet.

If our Irons can make a profit, it really wouldn’t be a surprise to see him depart this Summer. Although there have been glimmers, it seems likely that he will not live up to the hype.
