George Earthy should be playing an important role for West Ham next season.

For years, West Ham fans have been crying out for more youth players to be used. With the current group in particular, there’s so many talented youngsters who could be Premier League players, yet they can’t prove themselves without an opportunity.

Ollie Scarles is the first one to really be given a run of games, and he’s snatched the chance with both hands.

With youngsters returning from their loans, preseason will be the perfect opportunity for them to try to prove their worth.

While there are a few standouts, George Earthy is one of the most exciting prospects. He’s already won fans over with his emotional goal just over a year ago, but he became a vital player for Bristol City on loan as they pushed for promotion.

Although it’s hard to see him coming straight in as a starter, he should absolutely be a key squad player whose minutes should only grow as the season goes on.

Something the squad is really lacking is those West Ham roots that we’ve always had that, sadly, haven’t been there since Noble retired. A young, boyhood fan with bags of potential is exactly what the squad needs rather than players on big wages who don’t really want to be here.
