West Ham United could make a move sign Southampton and England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan this summer.

Graham Potter wants to sign a goalkeeper to compete with Alphonse Areola after letting Fabianski leave, the most likely moves look likely to be Robert Sanchez or Aaron Ramsdale.

However, Chelsea failed in an attempt to sign AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan, and Robert Sanchez was selected in Chelsea’s squad for this summers Club World Cup, so he is expected to stay, at least for the next month.

However, it might be too late for West Ham in a months time, Graham Potter ideally wants his business done early which could leave the door open for the club to prioritise a move for Aaron Ramsdale.

The 27-year-old is available for transfer this summer following Southampton’s relegation, however, the Hammers will not be able to pay a transfer fee as things stand because money is reportedly tight until we sell players. Also, there is other positions we need to spend money on before goalkeeper, like in midfield and up front.

This could mean the Hammers could make a loan-to-buy offer for Ramsdale, the Hammers would have to pay his wages in full and pay a substantial loan fee. A lot like the Jean-Clair Todibo deal last summer, however, we may not be required to sign the player permanently as the Saints would probably like to keep him if they’re promoted.

The potential signing of Ramsdale has led to a lot of opposition from West Ham fans, however, if we can get him on loan with no obligation to buy, it wouldn’t be a bad signing at all.
