Barcelona left-back Gerard Martin has played down exit talks as West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves are interested in signing him this summer.
West Ham have joined Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Barcelona full-back Gerard Martin, but they may be at a disadvantage. The Cherries and Wolves have just sold their starting left-backs in Milos Kerkez and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.
This means they are in the hunt for a left-back as soon as possible while the Hammers need to wait to sell Emerson before they can make a move for another left-back. So, this is an excellent opportunity for the others to steal a march over the Hammers.
It looks like Bournemouth prefer a move for former West Ham target Adrien Truffert from Rennes to replace Kerkez, so there is a massive opportunity to sign the 23-year-old left back who started both legs of Barca’s UCL semi-final against Inter Milan.
However, Martin isn’t looking for a move away from his boyhood club. “I don’t know, these are things that come out,” Martin told Jijantes of the transfer speculation. “I am happy with my season, and focused on Barcelona. I’m not thinking about anything else, I’m relaxed.”
Despite his reluctance to leave the La Liga winners after a good debut season in the first-team, a Football Espana report that the left-back could be available for as little as €12m (£10.2m) and that has alerted a number of potential suitors in the Premier League, La Liga and beyond.
