Jhon Duran could be loaned out by Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr just six months after arriving, and West Ham should do all they can to sign him.
West Ham’s striker search may have just been given a huge boost as their dream signing could be available on loan just six months after failing to sign him with an offer of £57m in January.
Duran was a menace at Aston Villa last season bagging 12 goals in 27 matches, earning himself the reputation of the Premier League’s best super-sub. This earned him a huge £65m move to Al Nassr in the winter.
The 21-year-old has scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for his new club but reports in Saudi Arabia claim his future is now in doubt. Al-Riyadh claim Duran has faced issues playing in Saudi that have ‘affected his mental state and technical stability’, and he is looking for a route back to European football.
Duran was very keen on a switch to West Ham before the Saudi interest came about, he got Hammers fans excited when he did the crossed hammers gesture on an Instagram live stream, but ultimately we couldn’t stump up enough cash to get a deal over the line.
However, just six months later we might not have to stump up much cash at all to get our man, and we need to make sure David Sullivan does all he can to get him in a West Ham shirt this time around.
While we’d rather have a talent like that permanently, if we can get him on loan we will not be in a position to complain. All the talk coming out of the club suggests we don’t have any money to spend until we sell players.
It doesn’t look like any players are close to being sold as of yet, so a loan deal would be absolutely perfect for West Ham as things stand and Duran would be the absolute perfect man to lead the line for Graham Potter next season.
We can’t afford to turn down opportunities to sign players like this even if it’s only on loan because of the position we’re in at the moment. If we get this window wrong we could be in serious danger of going down next season, so we have to act, and signing Jhon Duran will be an excellent way to start the window.
