Edson Alvarez produced an outstanding display for Mexico in their win over the Dominican Republic.
The West Ham midfielder was on hand to score too in the 3-2 victory, which was the first match of their 2025 Gold Cup campaign, with Alvarez set to play a key part as captain.
This is unfolding whilst his club future remains uncertain, with it widely expected that the defensive midfielder will depart east London this summer, as Graham Potter gets to work on building a squad that fits his vision for West Ham.
At this stage there appears no clear and strong interest, however with the player currently on international duty and it being early in the summer, that situation is expected to change.

The West Ham Way would like to draw fans’ attention to our own Mark Carlaw’s justgiving page, as he takes on The Mighty Hikes Challenge on the Thames this summer, but hiking a marathon along the river to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We of course appreciate that times are hard, but if you can spare anything for this great cause that it would be greatly appreciated.
