West Ham have put left-back Emerson Palmieri up for sale this summer, but selling him could be a huge risk for Graham Potter.

Reports suggest that Emerson is on the long list of players West Ham are willing to listen to offers for this summer as rumours coming out of the club still suggest we need to sell players before we can sign.

The former Roma left-back has been linked to bitter city rivals Lazio as former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is said to still be a huge fan of the 30-year-old Italian after managing him at Stamford Bridge in 2018/19.

Emerson was one of our most important players in 22/23 and 23/24, many Hammers fans believed he was man of the match in the conference league final and he was a big contender of hammer of the year in Moyes’ final year.

However, last season, like the majority of the squad, Emerson struggled for consistent form and he found himself benched for youngster Ollie Scarles or right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. This has led to Graham Potter making him available for sale this summer as he isn’t in his future plans.

While selling the Italy International makes complete sense and is exactly what we need to do, I would be worried we won’t replace him as well as we need to.

Reports coming out of the club suggest that if Emerson is sold, the top target for his replacement will be Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters. KWP is naturally a right-back that can play on the left, to have him as our only senior LB choice going into a new season would be a huge mistake, especially when players like Nathaniel Brown from Frankfurt are available.
