Princess Ademiluyi made a dream start to her first major tournament for England U19’s at the weekend, playing a key role in a comeback victory against the Netherlands in the UEFA Women’s U19 Championship.
The West Ham forward, wearing the number 9 shirt for the three lions, was a constant threat, as England came back from a goal down to secure the three points and make a strong start to their Group campaign.
England went behind just before the half time break. 18 year old Ademiluyi levelled for England four minutes into the second half after her poacher like finish at the back post. Just moments later, her effort from close range was diverted into the net by Dutch defender Olivia Rademaker giving the young Lions the lead.
Ademiluyi almost had a hat trick after her powerful headed effort which was cleared off the goal line shortly before she was substituted just past the hour mark.
Discussing her tournament debut, Ademiluyi described the experience as “surreal”, referred to her goal as “the best feeling”, and was full of praise for the teams mentality having regrouped at half time, as reported by whufc.com
Reflecting on England’s second half response, the Hammers forward felt the team’s belief and intensity was what made the difference. “Coming into the second half after we had a chat inside the changing room, I think we came back with real energy and it showed because we got two (goals) in about five minutes.” said Ademiluyi, she added: “It shows the power that we have and we knew we were going to win the game, we just had to follow through.”
Ademiluyi has six goals in her last seven appearances for her country, including five in her two most recent outings. Having made her England debut in October 2024, the 18 year old’s international rise is continuing at the U19 Championships.
