West Ham might be able to start making moves in the transfer windows as three first-team players are set for the exit.
Nayef Aguerd, Emerson Palmieri and Mohammed Kudus all look set to depart West Ham United in the next couple of weeks, which means we may have some funds to finally get active in the market and kickstart our transfer window.
Hammers fans were anticipating a big transfer window this summer, the squad needs a lot of work to be moulded into a Graham Potter team. We all hoped we would make the most of the early transfer window before the club world cup, but we were not active at all, unlike a few other Premier League clubs.
Instead, we were being told we can’t sign players until we sell players, and as of yet we haven’t sold anyone. However, that might not be the case for much longer.
As things stand, the most likely player to leave the club first is Nayef Aguerd. He has interest from a lot of clubs in Europe, meaning there could even be a race for his signature. Real Sociedad, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille all have an interest, but it looks like Juventus are going to be the first to make a move. I would expect us to receive just under £20m for the Moroccan.
Emerson has also been linked with a move back to Serie A, Maurizio Sarri is keen on a reunion with him at Lazio. The transfer fee for the Italian International will likely be lower than £10m, but every little helps in our current situation.
The sale we are pretty much relying on to fund our transfer window is Mohammed Kudus, but that looks the least likely of the three to happen as things stand. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer player + cash deals, but we want at least £60m in cash for the Ghanaian.
If we can manage to sell these players as well as players like Guido Rodriguez, Edson Alvarez and Konstantinos Mavropanos, and therefore raise at least £100m in funds, there is a chance we can rebuild the squad well enough to have a much improved season.
