West Ham want to sign younger players to decrease the average age of the squad this summer, and it is exactly what they need.
West Ham had the oldest squad in the Premier League last season and we’ve already taken steps to change that, despite not signing any players yet.
We have released Danny Ings, Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell and seemingly Michail Antonio. These four players have an average age of over 35 years old, this will go a long way to decreasing our average age.
What will go even further, is signing younger players and that us exactly what Graham Potter and head of recruitment Kyle Macauley are planning to do this summer.
We have been heavily scouting and linked to players in the Belgian, Dutch and French leagues so far this summer, where a lot of the cheaper and less appreciated young talent is, exactly where a club of our level should be operating.
If we can get players sold to raise funds and get active in the market as soon as possible at get moving for players like Ardon Jashiri and Emanuel Emegha, then the fans might finally have something to be excited about. If we manage to get players in like Brighton did with Potter and Macauley at the helm, it could be brilliant for West Ham.
