West Ham have been tipped as one of the favourites to sign Kiernan Dewsbury Hall this summer. The Hammers were heavily linked with the Chelsea midfielder in the January transfer window.
Five players have left West Ham so far this summer following the expiration of their contracts. There are expected to be more departures in East London this summer. West Ham desperately need to strengthen their squad this summer following a disappointing 2024/25 season. Graham Potter, who joined the Club in January, will want to place his stamp on the Hammers squad and bring in players that align with his vision and style of play.
Midfield will be an area of focus for West Ham’s recruitment team. The Hammers were routinely overrun in the middle of the park last season. The need to sign midfielders is only increased considering the likes of Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez are expected to be on the move this summer.
There have been whispers that Chelsea may look to include Kiernan Dewsbury Hall, who West Ham were linked with in January, as part of a potential deal for Hammers forward Mohammed Kudus.
Speaking to fellow Hammers news site West Ham Zone, commentator Ian Darke, has made the suggestion that West Ham may well be able to strike a deal for the Chelsea midfielder for a reduced fee, and do this without it being part of a potential swap deal that includes Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus.
Darke told West Ham Zone: “I think you saw at Leicester he was really their main player, and then Chelsea signed him and then hardly used him in the Premier League. I think he would give West Ham’s midfield a bit more of that dynamic quality that it lacks, so he would be quite a good buy.”
The veteran commentator went on to add: ” You could imagine there would be offers for him because people are looking at him, saying, he is not really getting much game time and would probably be happy with a move. I think Chelsea would do business at the right price, I think he went for £30 million, so £25 million they might get him.”
Whether or not Dewsbury Hall ends up being part of any discussions around a potential deal for Mohammed Kudus remains to be seen, but the Chelsea midfielder is clearly a player West Ham like and could make a move for should the opportunity present itself. With plenty of work required on the Hammers midfield ahead of the new season, Dewsbury Hall is a name where the links will likely continue to be reported throughout the summer.
