Despite the current doom & gloom feel around east London, there is m an underlying truth that West Ham could be set for an exciting new chapter.

Although the club lifted the Europa Conference League trophy back in 2023, West Ham were in significant decline.

An ageing squad, a fanbase frustrated with a defensive and boring style of football, which was capped off when Academy graduate and captain departed to switch to a London rival.

The decision to appoint Julen Lopetegui was a disastrous one, with it clear he was never a good fit for the club. Graham Potter has since arrived, and although results haven’t been great, the feeling is at the club that he gets it.

Potter has a desire to promote youth, work with the clear quality that the club has at its disposal – with a desire also to bring in young, hungry and exciting talent to the east end.

So while there is concern and frustration at the club, there is certainly more confidence and hope behind the scenes, that Graham Potter is set to ignite a chapter than many have been craving for many years.

As the window continues to frustrate, we have been reminded to judge things come the time it’s closes in September.

In that case, it’s time the club put their money where their mouths are and deliver.
