West Ham face a huge roadblock in signing their Mohammed Kudus/Lucas Paqueta replacement.

As we covered recently, various reports have emerged claiming West Ham are extremely keen on signing Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.

While the club are not believed to be willing to match the Birmingham side’s £40 million price tag a deal was reportedly days away from being reached due to their desperation to sell before the June cut off date for PSR.

This meant that, although it would still be taken from any outgoings, the board were willing to inject some cash in order to secure a bargain.

However, Sky Sports’ James Savundra has claimed that this couldn’t be further from the truth. “It’s been widely reported they’re a club that need to potentially do business to comply with PSR,” he began.

“I’ve been told by a source at Aston Villa that’s not the case – they’re absolutely sure they will fit within the laws of PSR because last year we saw them being very creative with the deals they were able to do. But they look like they’ll be absolutely fine.”

“Aston Villa fans, who have been a little bit frustrated with the lack of transfer activity so far, I think following this mini (PSR) window closing on the 30th of June, you would expect them to do some business.”

In all honesty, I think this is probably a good thing. Ramsey may be relatively young with potential, but his injury record is absolutely horrific and his careers stalled because of it. He’s someone I’d have liked to see our Irons avoid completely anyway.
