After weeks of worry, West Ham United look like they’re beginning to get active.
Hammers fans can take a deep breath as the club has finally started to make moves in the transfer market. Rumours were circulating within the club that we had to sell before we could buy. While we haven’t sold anyone yet, we have to make moves, and it looks like we’re doing that.
Left-back is a crucial position to upgrade this season. Emerson hasn’t been good enough, and he could be sold. And Ollie Scarles isn’t ready to be an important first-team player just yet. The Irons look like they’re closing in on a deal worth around £20m for Slavia Prague’s Hadji Malick Diouf.
This is exactly the type of move we need to be making; it perfectly fits the young, exciting, and kind of unknown profile of player that Graham Potter and Kyle Macauley liked to sign at Brighton, which worked so well. They want to bring this to East London, and signing a 20-year-old wing-back with bags of potential is exactly what we need.
If we get a deal done for Diouf, it would be an excellent start, but that’s all it is, a start. We still need to sign a couple more defenders, midfielders, and attackers if we’re really serious about turning our fortunes around and making it work under Graham Potter
