Not many Premier League fans have much hope for West Ham next season, but can we surprise everyone and have a good season?

As things stand, I would say no. In my opinion, we’re the fourth favourites for relegation, with only the three promoted clubs more likely to go down than us. As things stand, I think those four clubs and Brentford are going to be in a relegation dogfight all season.

However, that is as things stand; the rest of the transfer window could change everything. Now we’ve sold Kudus, we have money to spend to improve the squad, and sign players Graham Potter wants. But we have a lot of work to do, we NEED to sign at least two midfielders, a left winger, and a striker if we want to have a good season.

Brentford have lost their manager, who was doing an excellent job there, and they could still lose their two talisman in Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa. If that happens, I would probably make them more likely to go down than us.

But the question was, can we surprise people? Finishing 15th again wouldn’t really be a big surprise, but finishing in the top half would be, but I just don’t think there’s any chance of that happening, again, unless we master the transfer window and it all clicks into place with Graham Potter.

As West Ham fans, we know how unlikely that is to happen, especially because we have limited funds this summer. Kyle Macauley has a huge job on his hands to find the right players on a tight budget.
