West Ham turn their attention to Ligue 1 goalkeeper to replace Fabianski.
Lukasz Fabianski, despite initial fan reaction to his signing, became one of the greatest goalkeepers many of us have seen in a West Ham shirt.
Unfortunately, his age has been a concern for a few years now, and he’s left the club being the oldest player in the Premier League.
Given Areola’s rocky form, the Hammers are keen to sign a keeper who can compete for a place in the starting XI.
According to reports, West Ham are one of a few clubs interested in Angers’ Yahia Fofana.
Standing at 6 foot and 4 inches, Fofana has a real presence in goal, possessing strong shot stopping ability. While he does struggle with passing sometimes (his pass completion rate is under 70%), he does have the tendency to pick out a nice long ball. He’s also incredibly young for a keeper at just 24, meaning he has plenty of time to develop into a top keeper.
Although not a big name, he’s the sort of smart signing our Irons need to make this Summer and it’s one of the positions they can afford to take risks on (assuming that Areola isn’t as bad as last season).
