Crysencio Summerville says West Ham are in for a big season under Graham Potter.

Although it was a campaign to forget last time out, there is a feeling within the club of building optimism, as Potter looks to get his era in east London up and running.

There is much anticipation at present over the clubs continued work in the summer transfer market, with hope that the squad will be in stronger shape come the time we face Sunderland on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

One huge lift this season will be the return of Crysencio Summerville, who is set to return from a long term hamstring injury, which saw the exciting winger ruled out for much of last season.

Now the club have sold Mohammed Kudus, it feels the chance has arrived for Summerville to really cement himself in Graham Potters side.

The former Leeds player has spoken of his delight to be returning from injury, expressing his desire to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.

“One thing I have learnt is that you have to be grateful to be on the pitch and to come off the pitch healthy as well,” Summerville told the club’s Official Website.

“I think it’s part of the game, and I’m just grateful to be on the way back.

“Everyone gets a setback at some point in their career, but it’s the way you bounce back.

“I feel ready, so I’m happy I’m on the right track now.

“I love football; I breathe football, so I’m just hungry. I can tell you I’m very hungry, ready and locked in, and I can’t wait to be back on the pitch.”

Summerville also said that the players feel this is a hugely significant season for the club, with a determination to deliver a far more enjoyable and successful campaign in east London.

“It’s a big season for all of us,” added the Dutch international.

“I speak for myself as well, because we have to do better. I think last year wasn’t good enough, but we know that. So it’s going to be a big season, and we want to aim for big things.

“I think everyone wants to make an impact, but for me it feels a bit different because it feels like a year I didn’t do much, so for me, I want to come two or three times better than everyone else.

“I don’t like to speak before the season starts, but we know what we want to achieve. The only thing I can say is it’s going to be a big season for all of us.”
