West Ham are looking to strengthen our midfield this summer with Harvey Elliot a key target, as ExWHUEmployee provides an update.

Following what was a solid pre-season win at the weekend over Grasshopper, the squad are now getting set for the Premier League Summer Series, where Graham Potters side are to be tested against Manchester United, Everton and Bournemouth in the US.

While that is being undertaken, the club are continuing to work on transfers, with Liverpool duo Harvey Elliot and Tyler Morton still under discussion with Liverpool.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast, club insider Ex has provided an update on the current state of play.

“We are continuing talks with Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton,” stated Ex. “Despite going on their tour of Asia, they are still available, as the club continue to try and strike a deal to land the pair this summer.

“Jack Grealish is a player we admire, but his high wages as expected are a problem, as for most clubs, so at this stage they appear to be a stumbling block denying a realistic chance of signing the player, even on loan.”

Ex has also advised that at the moment, due to no bids being received, its now likely that both Edson Alvarez and Nayef Aguerd will stay at the club, but of course this could change pending interest elsewhere. The club may well have to subsidise the wages of Guido Rodriguez, to allow him to move on, with Spanish clubs been.

One player of significant interest is Mateus Fernandes of Southampton, with the club hoping that a recent deal with the south coast club and of course Kyle Walker-Peters may help any potential move for the midfielder.

James McAtee is a player we admire a lot, as reported previously, however at this stage there are other clubs ahead. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a player we may look to agree a loan with option to buy with Chelsea.

Another player to note is French U21 and Stuggart midfielder Enzo Millot.

Despite much noise in the media regarding Georgiy Sudakov, Ex has advised that although the club do like the player, others are ahead of him at this stage.

“Ukraine international Georgiy Sudakov is coming as an alternative option, but again at the moment he is thought to be too expensive but is well liked by the club.

“He has been offered to us but at the moment other targets are ahead of him, but if they drop out could be a potential target.”
