It appears that David Sullivan is having a large say on transfers including the possible signing of Calum Wilson, with ExWHUEmployee reporting an update.

In an exclusive posted by Hammers News, the club appear to be resigned to the signing of the former Newcastle striker.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, club insider Ex has provided the update, which understandably has angered many, feeling this is a a step backwards from the fresh approach in recruitment strategy we have been witnessing under Graham Potter thus far.

“It has be exclusively reported on Hammers News that the club now expect to sign Callum Wilson,” stated Ex. “They spoke to a senior source at the club who when pushed on whether they would sign any forwards stated ““We expect to sign Callum Wilson, but that might not be enough in my opinion as he has had injury issues in the past too.”

“This is something I predicted could happen with the player especially as he is a well known Will Salthouse client. If you listen to my section of the Podcast this week, I strongly hint I expected it to as well when discussing forwards.

“Whilst we were told the manager did want to sign another forward and that Wilson could be a back up option so it will be interesting to see if any other targets are approached before Wilson’s deal is confirmed. Should we land other targets perhaps we will not go through with the Wilson deal.”

Ex has further advised that the deal is set to be heavily incentive based, on both appearances and goals. This could mean that other clubs come in for him and offer more for him which is likely to persuade him to go elsewhere. We will keep you updated with the situation.

In other news, it’s been exclusively reported that West Ham are today taking on Ipswich Town in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly match.
