Guido Rodriguez says West Ham fans can expect a lot more from him this season.
When a club like Barcelona is trying to sign a player, you’d expect them to be at least half decent. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with Guido Rodriguez.
The World Cup winner has been absolutely abysmal since joining the Hammers a year ago, with his pace in particular letting him down.
However, the Argentine believes with a full preseason under his belt he’ll be able to be the player West Ham fans had hoped he would be. “I’ve been working hard as always, and the truth is that I feel good,” he told the official site.
“Last year I had arrived very close to the start of the Premier League, and I had not had a pre-season. Pre-seasons are always important, and good to experience, so I’m happy to have been here for the whole thing this time, and I think it’s going to help me on the pitch.”
“The first match wasn’t exactly what we were looking for, but I think we did some good things and I know we’re going to continue improving.”
“I am in constant communication with the coach (Graham Potter), and talking to him about what he wants for me, so for now things are positive and heading in the right direction, and we’re looking forward to what’s left to come in the USA.”
Despite what he says, one of the biggest things that the Hammers are lacking is pace in midfield, Rodriguez might just be the slowest player I’ve seen play for the club. Hopefully, he can prove me wrong, but I don’t think he’s the answer to any of the club’s problems.
