Young West Ham attacker George Earthy will stay at West Ham after impressing on loan at Bristol City last season.

You wouldn’t be too wrong to think maybe George Earthy isn’t in Potter’s plans for next season because he hasn’t been playing in pre-season, however that’s not the case. The 20 year old picked up an injury right at the start of pre-season.

Earthy suffered an ankle ligament injury in training before the team headed to Germany for a weeklong training camp a couple of weeks ago. He is expected to be out for a bit longer, so therefore he was also left out of the USA camp. Summerville did go to Germany, but he remained at Rush Green alongside Earthy instead of jetting off to America.

There is no timeframe on when Earthy will return but it is not believed to be a serious injury. However, he is still set to play an important role in pre-season, with Potter earmarking him and Freddie Potts as two players who could compete for first team minutes next term. However, Potts is likely to be well ahead of Earthy now because of his excellent performances in pre-season sos far.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder will hope to return to training before West Ham start the season away to Sunderland on August 16, it looks very unlikely that he will be able to feature against Lille at the London Stadium next weekend.
