West Ham are hoping to make strides today in our pursuit of a new goalkeeper, with ExWHUEmployee providing a transfer update.
As was exclusively broke yesterday evening by our club insider, there now appears to be a big twist in our goalkeeper hunt, with Mads Hermensen now very much back in the frame despite a deal for John Victor all but agreed.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex has provided an update on the current state of play, which is likely to change fast as the hours tick by in what is appearing to be a busy period for the club this summer transfer window.
“The club are working on range of goalkeeper targets,” stated Ex. “The main one seems to be Hermansen and the hope is we can get his deal over the line, with all parties are now working towards this. There is of course a point where the club will decide whether the deal is worth the fee being quoted.”
Furthermore, there is further news on our pursuits of a new midfielder this summer, with Ex advising that the club are aiming to bring in 2 new midfielders, although a second is likely to depend on player departures.
“We understand that the club are looking to bring in two midfielders this summer, this is once the new goalkeeper is over the line,” stated Ex. “As reported previously, the club are targeting Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa.
“The player has been keen to remain at his boyhood club, however the club are still working on a deal to bring him in. We understand a midfielder can be signed without players moving on, however a second midfield signing would need to see us shift another this summer.
“It is also understood that Leicester need to sell and also tried to maybe bring the midfielder (who I have previously confirmed as a target) Bilal El Khannouss into the equation with Hermansen, but we want to deal with the keeper as a separate signing before then focusing on midfield targets of which El Khannouss is on a list but not as far up as others previously mentioned.
“I asked if there was interest in Argentina international Exequiel Palacios of Bayer Leverkusen and was quite simply told “no, unless this is something the chairman is working on”.
“I also asked about rumours of Raheem Sterling and was told “His wages are way beyond what we would pay, it’s also not a position we are looking all”.
“Interestingly, I do think we will target Chelsea and perhaps a few other clubs for loan deals towards the end of the window.
“I also asked about the links to Liverpool winger Ben Doak but was told we are not looking for a winger with Summerville due to return soon.”
