West Ham may miss out on signing Portuguese wonderkid.

Aside from Kyle Walker-Peters, it’s not a secret that West Ham have had a look at a fair few Southampton players in the hopes that they can secure a bargain.

Despite some of the links being rather unflattering, one player that fans, pretty unanimously, would be delighted with signing with is Matheus Fernandes,

The 21-year-old was easily the Saints biggest bright spot in their abysmal season, with him possessing all the qualities to play at the top.

Unfortunately, aside from a whole host of other teams being interested, it’s been reported that Fernandes could actually stay at the club.

With Everton moving closer to securing a deal for Tyler Dibling, Southampton may not only be keen on keeping hold of such a talented player, but may also be in a financial position to do so.

The midfielder is said to be open to a move away, but he’s not put in a transfer request or anything of the sort, so there’s a real possibility he remains on the south coast next season.
