Today’s game against Lille is the perfect opportunity to firmly life the belief ahead of the Premier League kick off next weekend.

In what overall has been a refreshingly positive pre-season for West Ham, with a clearly high team spirit developing within the squad, whilst an identity of how we play taking shape – the visit of Lille is the chance to showcase these developments.

The mood around east London has been low for some time, with fans drained after 3 seasons of domestic struggle, which ultimately has seen the club on the decline.

The arrival of Graham Potter has felt rather make or break for West Ham, with many concerned that this season could even spell relegation – especially if a poor transfer window was realised.

Although there is still work to be done, it does appear that West Ham are looking in far better shape than where we were 12 months go, with a disastrous pre-season occurred under Julen Lopetegui.

This time there is a far more organised, driven and happier camp on display, with Potters influence starting to take hold, especially with an identity becoming noticeable.

To cap off our already positive pre-season campaign, we take on Europa League qualifiers Lille in front of a sold out London Stadium – giving Potter the perfect opportunity to cement that good feeling ahead of our trip to Sunderland next weekend.
