West Ham are set to make a bid to sign Mateus Fernandes from Southampton, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

Following the signing of Mads Hermansen at the weekend, it was advised that midfield was the next priority with the club looking to bring in 2 midfielders, although a second may depend on player sales.

It’s now been reported by our insider Ex that West Ham are now set to target Saints highly-rated Fernandes, with the club now nearing placing a firm offer in the hope of bringing in another of Graham Potters top targets this summer.

“The club are due to submit an opening offer for Fernandes in the coming hours.” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.

Furthermore, Ex provided his understanding of the situation at present in regard to Ngal’ayel Mukau, with the player having been reported previously as someone the club have shown an interest in.

“We can confirm that reported interest in Ngal’ayel Mukau of Lille is true,” said Ex. “The player is on a list of alternative targets to the main midfield targets we have brought to you.

“Mukau was originally identified as a young Belgium born player when those targets were looked at, at the start of the window. The club were interested to see how he did against us at the weekend and it was convincing enough for him to remain a target.

“No bid has been made but should other targets not come in, he could be an alternative option. His agent was in the stadium on Saturday but of course this was also to watch the player perform as agents do.”
