West Ham are close to selling a fan favourite player on the cheap.
The brilliant thing about a club like West Ham is that players become adored for all different reasons, not just the football they play. Niclas Fullkrug has pretty unanimously won the fans over, for example, without really doing much of anything on the pitch.
Similarly, Andy Irving is someone the fans seem to adore despite hardly featuring.
In his brief cameos, he’s actually looked like a solid little player who could definitely play a role in the squad.
Unfortunately, according to reports, the Scotsman’s stay in East London is drawing to a close, While there are multiple clubs interested, it’s said to be Celtic leading the way over a deal that could be with just £3 million.
While I understand selling him, that seems like a ridiculously minimal fee to sell him for, I would have hoped for at least double that. Nevertheless, he deserves to be playing at a club where he can get regular minutes.
