Graham Potter believes his West Ham side are still a work in progress as they prepare to face Sunderland this weekend.

West Ham United have had a decent window so far, and the vibes in the camp are the highest they’ve been in a couple of years, however, Potter isn’t getting ahead of himself.

“To defend well and to attack well in the Premier League, that’s what we’re all trying to do,” Potter said to the clubs Official Website.  “I think the reality of it is it’s a work in progress We need to keep fighting every day to improve, understand the things we’ve done well, and always look to get better.”

Hammers fans are known for wanting an attractive and attacking style of football and that was a key reason why the fans wanted rid of Julen Lopetegui and even David Moyes in the end.

Graham Potter is known for his possession football, however, he has had to adapt from his usual style slightly to try and get the best out of the West Ham squad.

“In the end, you reflect back and you say, OK, what’s the best way to go with this group of players? How do we get the most out of their attributes?

“I feel like we’ve, again, made some steps. But at the same time, we know we’re going into the Premier League. Until we start, we’re optimistic and we’re hopeful, but we also know the competition.”
