Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has emerged as a potential transfer target for West Ham, with the club in need of new additions to their midfield before the end of the transfer window.
Although West Ham have made additions during the transfer window, they have not brought in as many players as people would have expected. The Hammers could still use further signings to bolster their squad and strengthen the depth at Graham Potter’s disposal. The Hammers boss will be hoping the club’s hierarchy will free up additional funds for reinforcements, with the end of the window fast approaching.
Fabio Vieira joined Arsenal in the summer of 2022. The 25 year old spent last season on loan at his former club Porto. The midfielder is reported to be someone the Hammers are keeping a close eye on, with the club desperately needing to strengthen their midfield options.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, Dr Rajpal Brar suggested that if West Ham are to actively pursue a move for the midfielder, some digging into his injury history may be necessary. “The club may take a closer look at his groin surgery to assess for any outlier changes they aren’t comfortable with, especially if the muscular injury from last season was also groin related.” said Dr Brar.
West Ham would also need to consider the fact that, prior to spending last season out on loan, Vieira had arguably struggled to adapt to the Premier League and find his feet in English football.
Vieira stands at 5 foot 7 and lacks any real physical presence raising further question marks as to whether he’d be a good fit for Graham Potter’s side.
Although the Arsenal man is still just 25, known for his creativity, ability on the ball, as well as his work rate, the Hammers may be better of pursuing more of a ready made solution, someone with Premier League experience who has performed consistently and proven their ability in the top flight.
