West Ham United have to act in the final week of the transfer window if they want to stay up under Graham Potter.
We’ve seen enough from Graham Potter at West Ham United now to see that it’s not going to work out with his current set of players; he needs a few more of his own players, and we have to give him that over the next week, or he and the club are going to be in trouble.
This team simply cannot succeed without at least two signings this week, and those two signings have to be central midfielders who can immediately come into the starting eleven to play alongside Lucas Paqueta to form a competent midfield three.
If we don’t sign two starting quality midfielders – a defensive midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder- Graham Potter will continue to fail at this football club. Also, signing those two midfielders is the very minimum Potter needs to make this team succeed. Ideally, we will sign another centre-back and a striker.
If we don’t get those midfielders at least, we might as well just sack Potter now, because he isn’t going to succeed with this current crop of players. However, I would expect us to give him the next International break after the Wolves and Forest matches. The match after the break is at Home against Tottenham and Crystal Palace, two defeats in those games would really make the board think, even if we do back him in this week.
