David Sullivan is back in control of transfers, and this couldn’t be any worse for West Ham.
West Ham have just a week to complete their transfer business, a week that will decide whether they can have a comfortable season or whether they’ll be facing the drop.
Unfortunately, despite what every financial expert says, the board continues to spout that they have to be careful with their spending due to PSR.
With the limited funds they’re allowing for transfers, you’d hope they would allow Potter and his recruitment team to try and do what they do best – find bargains.
However, Tim Steidten’s failures and the more recent performance of Hermansen have reportedly left Sullivan with no choice, in his eyes, but to take complete control over transfers.
Two bad games does not define whether an entire recruitment team should be undermined, and appointing the wrong man in Steidten falls on Sullivan’s shoulders, which suggests a lot about how much his recruitment should be trusted.
Whatever happens, West Ham must make some signings as soon as possible, or they could easily see themselves relegated this season.
