West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen issues apology to fans following heated confrontation.
Tempers at West Ham are reaching boiling point. There’s a smog around the club at the moment, one that is getting uglier by the day.
A 3-2 defeat to Wolves means the Hammers have conceded an abysmal 11 goals in their first three games of the season.
Understandably, fans are frustrated, but their anger might be being directed in the wrong places. As the players went over to the fans after the match, Jarrod Bowen received some words from one fan in particular which he clearly was angered by. He was ready to jump the ad board if not for Tomas Soucek stopping him. As he walked away he removed his captain’s armband, looking visibly furious.
Thankfully, he was very quick to issue an apology on social media. “Apologies to the fans for tonight’s reaction,” the skipper posted on Instagram. “I’m someone who is passionate and will fight every time I step on the pitch. But I need to set a better example and you fans know how much I love you and this club.”
“We ride through the bad times together and I’ll see you all Sunday.”
For someone as collected as Jarrod to be losing his temper like that, it goes to show how bad things are at the club right now.
The situation is dire, and with just days left of the window West Ham are yet to sign a single midfielder. There’s a lot of talk from the board right now, but if multiple good deals aren’t secured then all hell could break loose against Tottenham, and you’d have to say it would be completely understandable.
