West Ham have made a loan-to-buy offer for Ivory Coast and Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré.
The Hammers have continued their scattergun approach to sign central midfielders with yet another rejection, this time from Nottingham Forest.
The West Ham board reportedly made Forest an offer of an initial loan with an option to buy next summer. This seemed like a pretty silly offer considering he has started both of their games so far this season.
Nottingham Forest unsurprisingly agreed with that. Fabrizio Romano reported this afternoon that this loan move was rejected. Evangelos Marinakis will only consider permanent bids or loans that are guaranteed to become permanent.
We are likely to come in with another loan bid for the 27-year-old; the only way to improve this bid without making it a guaranteed buy next summer is to offer a loan with an obligation to buy if we stay in the Premier League.
However, Nottingham Forest will be looking at our start to the season and will be thinking we have a huge chance of getting relegated this season, and it may not be a risk they’re willing to take.
Sangaré would be an excellent signing for the Hammers; however, we will likely have to explore other options to be the midfield signing alongside the incoming Soungoutou Magassa.
