West Ham have completed the signing of Mateus Fernandes from Southampton.

The Portuguese midfielder has signed a long term 5-year contract with the club and is understood to be eligible to be available for selection in our match this Sunday, however that is to be confirmed.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our insider reported the news as the club continue to bolster the squad ahead of the transfer window deadline on Monday.

“We are delighted to announce that the deal for Mateus Fernandes of Southampton has all been agreed,” stated Ex. “The deal is understood to be around £38m with £3m of add ons and a 15 percent sell on clause but we will get confirmation of that.”

“I’m very happy to be here. I’m very excited to play for West Ham,” said Fernandes to the clubs Official Website. “I think it’s a big step for me.

“It’s a big Club, a massive Club. The project, the stadium, the city, everything.

“I want to try to play football, enjoy football, not just run and try to score, but try to play good football.

“I think the most important thing is to try to give everything every day.”
