After Mads Hermansen’s disappointing start to life at West Ham, reports indicate the Hammers could be in the market for another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.

The mood surrounding West Ham at the moment is bleak. The Hammers have made a concerning start to the new Premier League season, losing their opening game 3-0 to newly promoted Sunderland, before being thrashed in a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Chelsea at the London Stadium.

A 3-2 second round Carabao Cup defeat to Wolves saw things take a further turn for the worse when Hammers captain Jarrod Bowen was restrained by a number of teammates following a heated exchange with a supporter after the full time whistle.

Going into the transfer window, West ham were in need of a new goalkeeper after the departure of Lukasz Fabianski and the unconvincing form of Alphonse Areola. The Hammers sought to rectify this situation by bringing Mads Hermansen to the club from Leicester City in a deal worth around £17.5 million.

Manager Graham Potter was incredibly keen on bringing the 25 year old to the club. After an opening two games which have seen the Danish shot stopper concede eight, several of which he was at fault for, GIVEMESPORT have reported the Hammers are seriously considering bringing in another goalkeeper before the end of the window.

The club’s hierarchy are said to already be having major regrets over parting with the near £20 million that brought Hermansen to the London Stadium.

With the summer transfer window entering into its last couple of days, it remains unclear who the Hammers would look to bring in should they make a further addition to their goalkeeping ranks.

There have been suggestions that should the Hammers sign another keeper, this would see Alphonse Areola leave the club on loan. West Ham had been linked with making another move for Botafogo keeper John Victor, who came close to joining the Hammers earlier in the window but it appears the 29 year old is now close to a move to Nottingham Forest.

Whether or not a new goalkeeper arrives remains to be seen. With Hammers fans concerned, the club’s hierarchy unconvinced, the pressure is already firmly on Mads Hermansen to prove he can be the long term answer in net for West Ham.
