West Ham are set to sanction the sale of Nayef Aguerd with a new defender a priority today, as ExWHUEmployee provides an update.
The mood is certainly a lot better today in east London following the 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest yesterday, however attention today turns on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our insider Ex has provided the latest ahead of what could be a very busy day at the club.
“Nayef Aguerd is on the brink of a £18.2m deal plus £1.7m in add-ons taking the overall package to a potential £19.9m,” stated Ex. “The player wants to go back to France and prefers this option to Sunderland.
“The three potential replacements are: Charlie Cresswell. The English defender who is at Toulouse and played very well at the Under 21s Euro Championships. He started his career at Leeds and also had a loan spell at Millwall. He is 23 years of age. He actually scored for Toulouse at the weekend in a 3-6 defeat to PSG.
“The other is Axel Disasi who is a 27 year old French international currently at Chelsea. He has a number of side interested in him and had a loan spell with Aston Villa last season.
“The final target is Brazilian Igor Julio who is 27 and currently plays for Brighton. He actually featured against West Ham in the Conference League Final for Fiorentina. However, it appears the player could be set to head to Crystal Palace.
“Other centre backs like Taylor Harwood-Bellis could become alternative options but those are the three that the club are currently working on.”
