Conference League hero says goodbye to West Ham United.
I think most West Ham fans would agree that, despite it being one of their best nights of their lives, the performance the Hammers put in against Fiorentina in the Conference League final wasn’t the greatest.
However, one man really pulled through; Italian left-back Emerson.
The experienced defender put in the performance of a lifetime and was one of the key reasons we were crowned champions,
Sadly, the former Chelsea man’s time in East London has come to an end with him joining Marseille, the club have confirmed.
“The Italian left-back departs for France after three years in Claret and Blue, during which he was an important member of the team which won the UEFA Europa Conference League in June 2023,” they wrote on the official site.
“He played for the Hammers 113 times in all competitions across his three seasons, including eight times during our historic run to Prague, where he produced an outstanding performance in the final victory over Fiorentina.”
“Everyone at the Club would like to thank Emerson for his contribution, hard work and commitment and wish him every success for the future.”
Emerson also posted a heartfelt goodbye to the West Ham fans; one which you could truly tell was genuine down to every last word.
Hopefully, he can finish his career on a high in France, but he will forever be a Hammer in our eyes.
