Jarrod Bowen deserves to be playing for England, but there are positives that he isn’t.
Bias aside, Jarrod Bowen might be one of the most underrated players in the Premier League era. If he was doing what he does for West Ham season after season for one of the “big” clubs, he’d get an unbelievable amount of plaudits.
I’m convinced England would be better if he was getting a solid amount of minutes (not necessarily starting though).
However, there are positives to him not playing. West Ham have been struck one too many times by international break injuries over the years. Keeping Bowen fit is absolutely vital, and an injury to him could be catastrophic to the point of relegation.
With that being said, it does seem a bit pointless having him travel to not play. If he was to pick up an injury in training while on international duty, it would be beyond frustrating.
Hopefully, being in the squad is enough to keep him satisfied and not give him any ideas about leaving – not that he’s that sort of player anyway.
