Jarrod Bowen is looking ahead to Saturday’s London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur as the Hammers hunt for back-to-back wins.

The West Ham captain knows exactly what a game against Spurs means to the fans and this occasion is even bigger than normal. A win at the London Stadium on Saturday would really get the fans back onside after the win at Forest.

Bowen is currently away on International duty with England and he is likely to start tonight as Tuchel’s team travels to Serbia for a qualifier, so his focus will be firmly on that for now. However, he also has one eye on the London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

“I think for us now it’s important that we got the win going into the international break,” Bowen said to the club’s Official Website. “The manager has got a bit of time now before the next game, a big rival game as well. We’ve got Tottenham at 5.30 on a Saturday, so it’s a great game for us, a great opportunity and we’re feeling a better place now than what we did [before Nottingham Forest].

The 28-year-old has been in great form for West Ham for a number of years now, and has been a regular in the England team as a reward. However, after missing out on the last England squad and with a World Cup coming up, Bowen wants to prove what he can do.

It may only be the 4th game of the Premier League season, but Bowen is more than aware of the magnitude of this encounter – against a side that holds a deep rivalry, especially with the added mix of having Mohammed Kudus within their ranks.

It’s a game that presents West Ham and in particular Graham Potter the opportunity to build on the win over Nottingham Forest and kick on, with home form desperately needing improving. It is hoped that Bowen can lead our Hammers to a huge win that could really get the season up and running.
