West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville turned down a move to Nottingham Forest with the desire to show what he can do in claret and blue.

The Dutch winger had a difficult first season in East London, he started pretty positively under Julen Lopetegui and looked like a bright spark in what was a bad spell for the club.

However, after impressing in the first-half of Potter’s first game against Aston Villa at right wing-back, the 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season missing 24 matches.

Summerville made a sensational return to the squad against Forest last week, he was introduced with eight minutes left to play – he immediately assisted Jarrod Bowen, won a penalty and was involved in Wilson’s goal.

The former Leeds man showed Hammers fans exactly what they’ve been missing, especially his directness and pace. And Hammers fans will be pleased to hear he wants to stick around and show he can perform consistently in claret and blue.

The Athletic has reported that Summerville turned down approaches from two European clubs in order to stay at West Ham. Nottingham Forest reportedly saw him as the ideal replacement for Anthony Elanga, while Borussia Dortmund made a loan move for the young winger.

But he had no interest in leaving. He informed his representatives he had unfinished business at West Ham. It was a sign of the winger’s commitment to the club and his gratitude for their continued support during the first long-term injury of his career.
