Sam Allardyce believes West Ham have made a great choice in signing Callum Wilson.
Although the overall performance against Nottingham Forest was miles better than anything else we’ve seen under Graham Potter, there were some really surprising highlights to the game.
While we all know Summerville can be a great player, I don’t think anyone expected that level of performance from the bench. However, it was perhaps Callum Wilson who surprised fans the most,
The Former Bournemouth and Newcastle forward caused the Forest defence untold problems, and ex Hammers boss Sam Allardyce believes he was a great signing.
“If you keep Wilson fit, you’ve got plenty of goals, mate. What a good signing that’ll be, I mean, you’ve got him on a free and he’s in his 30s, but if you can keep him fit, and even if you’re not going to keep him fit all the time, and if you can only probably use him sparingly now, but he will score your goals. He will finish a game off for you,” he said on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.
Unfortunately, the issue of injury seems like a when rather than an if, but with Fullkrug out injured you can bet it’ll be against Tottenham this weekend.
Admittedly, I’d be lying if I said I’m Wilson’s biggest fan, but even I have to admit he looks like everything our Irons have been missing up top. He’s not got the legs to start every single week, but keep him fit and we’ve got a striker that guarantees goals.
