Graham Potter is under real pressure head of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace at London Stadium, according to a Sky Sports report.
With just three wins in our last fifteen Premier League matches and sitting in the relegation zone having conceded eleven goals in four PL matches, Graham Potter is in real danger of losing his job.
Potter was asked about his West Ham future in the pre-match press conference, he said: “Everybody wants West Ham to do well, the fans, the players, me and my staff do and the board,” Potter said. “We are all on the same page in terms of how much we love the club and how much we want them to do well. We are hurting the same.”
The Hammers want Potter gone, but at the moment they’re focused on a bigger problem, the clubs ownership. Fan groups Hammers United and Crossed Hammers have organised a protest before the Palace match and are planning to boycott the next home game against Bournemouth.
West Ham appeared to back Potter in an open letter addressing their fans’ concerns on Thursday. “Steps have already been taken to implement a new strategy and approach – particularly in the area of player recruitment,” it read.
“We have appointed Graham Potter as our new head coach. His role is to build and develop a first-team squad in line with the club’s identity and objectives with a continued focus on integrating young players from our academy.”
Despite being backed, the Hammers board are clearly searching for a replacement. If we lose heavily to Palace they may be forced to sack him, but a narrow win would likely speed up the search for his successor, but he will likely remain in charge till the Arsenal game before the October International break.
