The West Ham United squad have to step up now if they want Graham Potter to stay, as he edges closer to the sack.

The next ten days is crucial for West Ham manager Graham Potter, if we don’t get three points at the very minimum against Everton on Monday and Arsenal the following Saturday, he will be getting the sack over the International break.

The players will know he’s close to leaving, and they will know they need to step up for him now if they want him to stay. Rumours suggest that the players love Potter and his staff, and that the atmosphere at the training ground is the most positive it’s been for years.

So, if that’s true the players need to act and they need to in the next couple of games, or potentially Nuno, who is a completely different style of manager to Potter, will act because he won’t stand for whats going on on the pitch at the moment at all.

As captain, Jarrod Bowen has to lead the team, but to say he isn’t doing all he can for the team currently would be stupid. Yes, he’s the captain and he needs to take some responsibility, but he’s not part of the problem at all. The problem is pretty much the rest of the teams commitment and focus.

The midfield isn’t good enough, Potter needs to start Magassa, his own signing, if he plays Ward-Prowse, there is only so much putting more effort in for the manager can do, JWP just isn’t good enough to be a Premier League starter at the moment.

But one thing that does have to change, no matter the team selection, is our ability to defend corners. Potter will have had more than a week on the training ground to sort this out, and if it still isn’t sorted out, Potter clearly isn’t the man to get his message across to the players and e will have to go.

Every player in the squad needs to improve, but players like Kilman, Paqueta, Fullkrug and Areola especially need to up their performances for Potter and his staff in the upcoming fixtures, or they will be gone by the end of next week.

If we do improve our defending from corners and certain players begin to work harder for the team and the manager, there is every chance we can get a win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night, but at this point, we are expecting yet another heavy defeat at the hands of our former manager David Moyes.
