West Ham United have had an abysmal start to the season, but one shining light has been Kyle Walker-Peters.
Pretty much involved with the Hammers is having a bad time of it at the moment; the manager, the owners, the players and the fans. But like the fans trying to stay positive with the Graham Potter memes online, some of the players have things to be positive about and none less than Kyle Walker-Peters.
The 28-year-old arrived on a free transfer after his contract at Southampton expired this summer. He looked set for a move to Besiktas, with a flight to Istanbul booked. However, West Ham came in last minute and the England International decided to come to East London.
Hammers fans knew what they were getting with KWP – a solid and experienced full-back. However, he’s been more than that so far despite the rest of the teams form. He has displaced last years Hammer of the year Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back already, has been excellent defensively and more than solid going forward.
Obviously its hard to stand out as a defender when you’re losing every week, KWP isn’t quite putting in player of the match displays, but he’s been good and there isn’t many players we can say that about.
His assist against Wolves and locking down of Callum Hudson-Odoi in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest have been the standout moments, with hopefully many more to come.
